Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Lead Estimator with proven experience in the Australian resources sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing our estimating department, managing bids, and delivering competitive and accurate tenders. This role is ideal for a seasoned estimator who is ready to take on both leadership and hands-on responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimating Expertise:
   Experienced in Design and Construct estimating, with strong skills in first, second, and third principles. Able to review project documents, prepare accurate cost estimates across various project types, including infrastructure, fit-out, refurbishment, modular manufacturing, and site installation. Skilled in quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and tracking actual costs against estimates.
• Tendering and Documentation
  : Manage the end-to-end bid process, from review to submission, ensuring compliance and competitiveness. Prepare BOQs, subcontractor packages, and hard-dollar tenders for various project types. Support tender preparation, submission, and negotiations, and lead post-tender negotiations. Develop high-quality bid and contract documentation under tight deadlines to support construction teams and business development.
• Risk, Value Engineering & Cost Management
  : Identify project risks, value-engineering options, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Team Leadership and Collaboration
  : Lead and manage the development of an estimating department as well as mentoring junior estimators, while collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to develop accurate estimates, support preconstruction planning and risk assessments, and evaluate programmes and value-engineering options prior to implementation.
• Process & Systems Development
  : Develop and implement estimating processes, systems, and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy as well as track market rates and maintain estimating databases.
• Market Engagement & Subcontractor Management
  : Develop and maintain strong relationships with local subcontractors to secure accurate pricing, informed on supply trends, and effectively manage and package subcontractor scopes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Lead or Senior Estimator in the Australian resources sector (essential).
• Strong background in construction estimating across non-process infrastructure, refurbishment, fit-out, modular manufacturing, and site installation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to set up or enhance estimating departments and processes.
• Track record of successfully managing bids and delivering winning tenders.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies, cost structures, and industry benchmarks.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
