Main Purpose of the Job:

A server and storage engineer are responsible for implementing, and managing the server and storage infrastructure of an organization. Their job description typically includes tasks such as installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software, managing storage systems, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data security and integrity. They may also be involved in capacity planning, backup and recovery procedures, and implementing best practices for system reliability and performance. Additionally, they may work on virtualization technologies, cloud computing, and other related areas. The specific duties and requirements for this role can vary depending on the organization and its technology stack.

Key Accountabilities:

Designing, implementing, and maintaining server and storage infrastructure to meet the organization's requirements.Installing, configuring, and optimizing server hardware and software for performance and reliability.Managing storage systems, including but not limited to SAN, NAS, and other storage technologies, to ensure data availability and integrity. Monitoring system performance and capacity and making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.Planning and implementing backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data.Troubleshooting server and storage issues and providing timely resolution to minimize downtime.Ensuring data security and implementing best practices for access control, encryption, and compliance with relevant regulations.Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, solid understanding of Wintel operating systemsCertifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified\: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or similar credentialsMinimum of 2 to 3 years knowledge of operating systems (such as Windows Server, Linux, etc.), networking, and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, etc.) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.2 to 3 years experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.), cloud computing, backup and recovery solutions, and security best practices.
