Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), as one of the government's focal agency for R&D in ICT and Microelectronics, has been mandated to undertake long-term researches to strengthen and modernize the Philippines' science and technology infrastructure; conduct R&D work in the advanced fields of studies; and complement the overall endeavor in the scientific field with intensive activities in the computer and information technologies.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Taguig City for a
Research IoT Development System Engineer
SG-16 (
Hardware
for sensors and systems integration
or
Software
for Full stack development ). The responsibilities include conducting in-depth research and development for creating and optimizing Internet of Things (IoT) wireless sensor-based systems and solutions in aquaculture, for a new research project AqWANetIO. The role involves designing, implementing, and testing systems, participating in engineering processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions. The engineer(s) will also ensure the integration and functionality of various components within IoT systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to assess data, identify solutions, and evaluate performance
  • Experience in Research and Development (R&D) and expertise in conducting research
  • Proficiency in Electronics Engineering (microcontrollers, sensors and wireless communications) or Software Engineering concepts (cloud computing and mobile app development)
  • Ability to manage and contribute to multidisciplinary innovative projects
  • Excellent problem-solving with critical systems thinking abilities
  • Knowledge in IoT architecture and technology stack is an advantage
  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
