Job Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and handling the procurement of equipment, spare parts, and materials essential for mechanical engineering projects. This role ensures that all purchased items meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements, supporting the efficiency and success of project operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and evaluate suppliers of mechanical equipment, raw materials, and engineering-related products.
  • Handle the complete purchasing process including request for quotations (RFQs), price analysis, purchase orders, and order tracking.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply and long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to identify purchasing needs and align procurement with project timelines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment of critical materials and spare parts.
  • Ensure all purchased equipment and materials meet technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, and reports for management review.
  • Stay informed of market conditions, pricing trends, and new supplier options relevant to the mechanical engineering industry.
  • Address and resolve purchasing issues such as delays, shortages, or discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within the mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment, spare parts, and industrial materials.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and purchasing/ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
