Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and support of enterprise and multi-site network infrastructures, with a strong focus on Cisco routing, firewall security, and SD-WAN deployments. This role also includes technical leadership, guiding engineering teams during deployment, commissioning, and handover of complex network projects across multiple sites.

Network Design & Routing

• Design, configure, and optimize Cisco routing solutions using:
• BGP (iBGP/eBGP, route filtering, path selection, failover)
• OSPF (multi-area design, route summarization, redundancy)
• Develop scalable and resilient network architectures for enterprise and government environments
• Perform network capacity planning, performance tuning, and risk assessment

Security & Firewall Configuration

• Configure, deploy, and maintain Cisco firewalls (ASA / Cisco Secure Firewall / Firepower)
• Implement firewall policies, NAT, VPNs (site-to-site and remote access), and security hardening
• Integrate firewalls into high-availability (HA) and redundant network designs
• Demonstrate working knowledge of other firewall platforms, particularly Fortinet (FortiGate)

SD-WAN & Multi-Site Deployments

• Lead the deployment and commissioning of multi-site networks, including:
• SD-WAN connectivity
• Branch turn-ups and migrations
• WAN optimization and redundancy
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful rollout
• Validate site readiness, perform cutovers, and ensure minimal downtime

High Availability & Resiliency

• Design and implement high-availability (HA) configurations for:
• Routers and firewalls
• WAN and SD-WAN environments
• Implement redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery best practices
• Conduct testing and validation of HA and failover scenarios

Team Leadership & Technical Guidance

• Lead and mentor junior and mid-level network engineers
• Provide technical direction during project implementation and troubleshooting
• Review network designs, configurations, and deployment plans
• Support knowledge transfer, documentation, and operational readiness

Documentation & Handover

• Produce and maintain:
• Network design documents
• Configuration standards
• As-built diagrams and commissioning reports
• Support acceptance testing and operational handover to support teams

Required Qualifications

Certifications

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – minimum requirement
• Higher-level certifications (CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, CCIE) are an advantage

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing, including:
• BGP (iBGP/eBGP, route filtering, path selection, failover)
• OSPF (multi-area design, route summarization, redundancy)
• Strong experience configuring and managing Cisco firewalls (ASA / Cisco Secure Firewall / Firepower)
• Solid understanding and hands-on exposure to encryption technologies, including:
• IPsec (site-to-site and remote-access VPNs)
• SSL/TLS concepts and secure communications
• Encryption for data-in-transit across WAN, SD-WAN, and VPN environments
• Key exchange, certificates, and basic PKI concepts
• Experience deploying and operating SD-WAN solutions, including secure overlay networks
• Familiarity with high-availability (HA) and redundancy designs for:
• Routers
• Firewalls
• WAN and SD-WAN infrastructures
• Working knowledge of other firewall platforms, particularly Fortinet (FortiGate), including security policies and VPNs
• Strong troubleshooting skills across routing, security, and encrypted network environments

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5–7 years experience in network engineering
• Proven experience deploying enterprise or multi-site networks
• Experience leading or supervising technical teams during deployments
• Exposure to government, enterprise, or service provider environments is an advantage
