Junior Network Engineer

Role Summary

The Junior Network Engineer supports the implementation, deployment, and commissioning of network infrastructure under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer. The role is primarily field-oriented, assisting in provincial and multi-site deployments, and involves hands-on configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of routing, switching, and basic security components.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation & Deployment Support

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of network devices at project sites
  • Perform device turn-ups, connectivity checks, and basic acceptance testing
  • Support provincial and multi-site deployments as assigned

Routing & Switching Configuration

  • Configure and support basic to intermediate Cisco routing, including:
  • BGP (basic iBGP/eBGP configuration under supervision)
  • OSPF (single and multi-area implementations)
  • Configure VLANs, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing
  • Assist in WAN and LAN connectivity testing

Network Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Perform basic network troubleshooting for:
  • Routing issues
  • VLAN and connectivity problems
  • Interface and link status
  • Escalate complex issues to the Senior Network Engineer with proper documentation

Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist in preparing:
  • Configuration backups
  • As-built diagrams
  • Site implementation and commissioning reports
  • Maintain accurate records of deployed configurations and site details

Coordination & Team Support

  • Work closely with the Senior Network Engineer and other implementation team members
  • Coordinate with field technicians, installers, and local site contacts
  • Follow deployment standards, safety guidelines, and implementation checklists

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field (preferred)

Certifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – minimum requirement
  • Progression toward CCNP is an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of:
  • Cisco routing and switching
  • BGP and OSPF fundamentals
  • VLANs, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing
  • Basic understanding of:
  • WAN technologies
  • Network security concepts
  • Ability to follow network design and configuration standards

Experience Requirements

  • 1–3 years experience in network implementation, NOC, or support roles
  • Exposure to field deployments or on-site implementations is an advantage

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Willingness to learn and take technical direction
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently in provincial or remote site deployments
  • Adaptable to field and on-site work conditions

Work Environment & Travel

  • May be assigned to provincial or remote deployments during implementation phases
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as required by project schedules

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From Php30,000.00 per month
