Summary:

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the company's network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role will manage day-to-day network operations, provide technical expertise for network projects, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve overall network efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Network Management & Operations

  • Configure, manage, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Perform regular system upgrades, patches, and updates across network hardware and software.
  • Implement network security measures and ensure adherence to best practices and company policies.

Network Design & Implementation

  • Design and deploy scalable network solutions to support business growth and operational needs.
  • Plan and execute network infrastructure enhancements and migrations.
  • Conduct network capacity planning and recommend improvements for performance optimization.

Security & Compliance

  • Monitor network security systems and respond to potential threats or vulnerabilities.
  • Manage firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and support audits and documentation requirements.

Documentation & Support

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Provide Level 2/3 technical support for network-related incidents.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve complex issues and coordinate upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in network administration or engineering (adjust based on role).
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar network equipment.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+).
