Job Description:

Fat Cat is a craft cocktail bar that plays jazz music on vinyl. We are looking for a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Front of House to join our team. As a Front of House/Barback, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service, ensuring guests have a great experience, and delivering drinks and food in a timely and professional manner. Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude, offering assistance with menu items and drink specials.
  • Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring guests are satisfied with their selections.
  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring proper preparation and presentation.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the drink menu.
  • Provide recommendations to guests based on their preferences.
  • Ensure guests are well-attended to, checking back frequently to refill drinks, take additional orders, and address any concerns.
  • Process payments and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
  • Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked, including refilling garnishes, napkins, and straws.
  • Assist with cleaning the venue during opening and closing shifts and as necessary.
  • Assist in cleaning glassware, preparing garnishes, and stocking supplies when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of current health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with alcohol service laws and guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with other bar staff and management to ensure smooth service during busy times.
  • Provide excellent customer service even during peak hours, especially during live music performances and events.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a server in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor when interacting with guests.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: Works well with colleagues in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, carry heavy trays, and work in a busy, high-energy environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on customer service and ensuring guests' orders are correct and delivered promptly.
  • Tipping & Payment Handling: Experience handling cash and credit card transactions; familiarity with POS systems is a plus.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
