We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in legal billing processes, including e-billing, LEDES formatting, and client billing systems. This role requires a high level of accuracy, organization, and familiarity with leading billing platforms used in law firms and corporate legal departments.

This is a full-time role, on a US shift, and a work-from-home set-up.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the monthly billing cycle, beginning with the generation of prebills at the start of each month.

  • Review, edit, and process prebills based on attorney feedback, ensuring accuracy before final submission.

  • Manually update and maintain billing data in the firms system, then either route finalized invoices to attorneys for review or send them directly to clients, as applicable.

  • Coordinate closely with attorneys regarding billing edits, adjustments, and issue resolution.

  • Handle minimal client interfacing, as most invoices are automatically distributed through the billing system.

  • Prepare, review, and submit client invoices in strict adherence to firm and client billing guidelines.

  • Manage e-billing submissions through various third-party platforms (e.g., LEDES 1998B), ensuring timely and accurate processing.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all billing activities, adjustments, and submissions.

  • Generate and analyze billing reports using Excel to support management reviews and client reporting needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal billing experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong understanding of LEDES 1998B billing formats and compliance standards.
  • Experience with SurePoint (LMS) preferred; familiarity with TimeSolv, Aderant, or Elite 3E is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major e-billing platform, such as:
    • Legal Tracker (Serengeti)
    • TyMetrix 360°
    • CounselLink
    • Brightflag
    • SimpleLegal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
