Head of Data Engineering

The
Data Platforms Head
will be responsible for ensuring consistent adherence of all Enterprise Data Group (EDG) solutions to strict operational SLAs, including system uptime, service availability, and performance of core data platforms (Data Storage, ETL/ELT, Data Ingestion, Dashboards, Machine Learning, and APIs).

This role oversees the organization's enterprise data infrastructure, ensuring that systems remain reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise data architecture standards. The Data Platforms Head plays a critical leadership role—managing day-to-day operations of EDG, driving improvements, and supporting the company's strategic data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

• Ensure all data platforms and systems meet uptime, availability, and performance SLAs.
• Safeguard production environment performance and stability across the enterprise data ecosystem.
• Lead support teams and platform administrators in delivering fixes, enhancements, and operational improvements.
• Conduct operational readiness reviews and sign-offs for new projects, systems, and deployments.

Capacity & Performance Management

• Monitor system utilization, performance, and capacity metrics.
• Forecast capacity requirements and recommend proactive scaling and optimization.
• Enhance data models, capacity plans, and system configurations to support business growth and evolving data needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with end-users and business stakeholders to ensure platforms meet functional and performance expectations.
• Collaborate with Data Privacy and Information Security teams to ensure proper access controls, compliance, and governance.
• Partner with development teams and enterprise architects to ensure solutions are aligned with data architecture principles.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Drive continuous improvements in system performance, monitoring, and operational processes.
• Lead innovation initiatives exploring advanced and emerging data use cases across the enterprise.
• Recommend operational process improvements that enhance the company's data-driven culture.

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare and present operational and performance reports to senior leadership.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of operational documentation and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Advanced certifications in data engineering or data management (preferred).
• 5–10 years of experience managing enterprise-level data platform operations with strong SLA compliance.
• Strong understanding of:

• Data modeling and enterprise data architecture

• Hands-on experience with:

• Unix/Linux scripting
