Join Our Team as a Senior Cost Accountant

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for performing specialized accounting duties focused on inventory valuation, vineyard cost tracking, bottling cost analysis, and item master data management. The role ensures accuracy in cost reporting, supports financial compliance, and provides timely analysis to aid production, budgeting, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliations for winery, vineyard, and bottling operations.
  • Track and analyze vineyard costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and seasonal allocations.
  • Maintain accurate item master data in ERP systems for cost accounting and reporting.
  • Record and reconcile bottling costs, including dry goods, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare harvest grape and bulk costing calculations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reports.
  • Support cost allocations between departments and entities based on production activity.
  • Develop and maintain standard cost and bill of materials documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with production, vineyard, and finance teams to ensure data accuracy and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company cost accounting and reporting standards.
  • Assist with sales, use, and excise tax filings.
  • Perform other related accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems for data entry and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Works independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintains confidentiality and integrity in handling financial data.
  • Adaptable to hybrid or on-site work environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English for cross-functional collaboration.
