research & development officer (urgent)

FUNCTIONAL/OPERATIONAL:

The Research & Development Officer - Industrial Services is responsible for the maintenance and further development of the laboratory assigned. The incumbent conducts R & D, tests, and supervises activities relating to the compliance activities, of conformity bodies and quality assurance. The officer also participates in inter-laboratory comparisons and other quality assurance activities.

Core Functions/Responsibilities:

• Conduct tests and supervise activities relating to the compliance activities of the FDA, and/or any other conformity body
• Participate in inter-laboratory comparisons and other quality assurance activities
• Manage/Guide the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects in the Technical & Testing & Industrial Services
• Perform routine Calibration, and/or Testing activities on samples
• Research, evaluate, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements;
• Participate in the enforcement of product standards and regulations relevant to the mandate of RA 4109 which is reiterated by RA 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines which declares that the State must develop and provide safety and quality standards for consumer products, including performance or use-oriented standards, codes of practice and methods of tests.
• Prepares relevant documents for submission to the Procurement Committee for purchasing/sourcing of goods and services
• Validates non-standard methods used by the Mechanical & Metrology
• Conducts research in standards calibration and testing
• Maintains the record system according to the Procedures and Work Instructions of the Company
• Prepares documents and executes other required activities to maintain the laboratory's Quality Management Systems
• Responsible for the improvement and development of existing and new product/s, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs
• Customer care - addressed personnel/customers/clients' concerns and technical inquiries

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Working knowledge of the Standards & Weights and Measures Acts known as REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9236 also known as the National Metrology Act of 2023 & themandate of RA 4109 reiterated by RA 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
• Commendable knowledge/background in Research & Development
• Highly developed critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Highly developed competencies in practical and system analysis
• Working knowledge of mechanical testing of materials would be an asset.
• Working knowledge of various standards including but not limited to ISO/IEC 17025, 9001, 14001, and 50001 is an advantage but not highly necessary.
• Working knowledge of various standards including but not limited to manufacturing, technical information of the product, and regulatory affairs is an advantage
• Working knowledge of the Philippines Procurement Procedures
• Commendable/Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills is an advantage
• Strong project and task management skills
• Work well in teams as well as with minimal supervision

QUALIFICATION (Education):

• Complete a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Chemical Engineering, Medical Technology, and/or other related fields.

• Having a License (local or international) is an advantage

• Experienced working in a laboratory or production position

DESIRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

**Minimum 1-3 years of work-related experience with at least 1-year experience in Research & Development or manufacturing Technical & Testing Lab

DESIRED INDUSTRY EXPOSURE:

1. Knowledgeable in medical terms, more so in food supplements
2. Exposed or with commendable knowledge in research and development, product formulation, product indication, product contradiction, dosage, and administration.
3. Addressed clients' concerns and technical inquiries
4. Exposure to research and evaluation of newly acquired, and/or potential products for acquisition.
5. Catering to the technical needs and inquiries of the sales and marketing personnel but not limited to clients and customers
6. Acted as liaison to government agencies like the FDA and other related professional organizations regarding product registration and evaluation.
7. Cascading any new information or technical updates to the sales and marketing personnel.
8. From the pharma, medical, manufacturing, or ethical industry (preferably) with a connection to medical-related networks, with a connection to the association of doctors and the like, connection with regulatory bodies/affairs,  and with commendable knowledge in neurology, derma, fertility, pharma, and prostate.
9. Assumed responsibility in the absence of the department head.
10. Responsible for the inventory, proper maintenance, troubleshooting, performance evaluation, and/or annual calibration of different in-house and client-owned equipment.
