We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mortgage Credit Analyst to support mortgage and home loan applications in a broker-led environment. This role focuses on assessing borrower creditworthiness, reviewing and validating financial documentation, identifying risk factors, and ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working directly with mortgage brokers and is familiar with industry tools such as ApplyOnline and LoanApp.

Job Responsibilities:

Credit Assessment & Analysis

  • Review and analyze credit data, financial statements, and supporting documentation for mortgage applications
  • Assess borrower income, assets, liabilities, and credit history to determine serviceability and repayment capacity
  • Interpret credit reports and identify potential risks, inconsistencies, or red flags

Mortgage Broker & Loan Application Support

  • Work closely with mortgage brokers to prepare, review, and submit accurate loan application packages
  • Use broker platforms such as ApplyOnline and LoanApp to manage, assess, and progress mortgage applications
  • Verify borrower documentation, including income verification, employment history, and identification
  • Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to obtain missing or additional documentation efficiently

Risk Evaluation

  • Evaluate and quantify credit and lending risks associated with mortgage applications
  • Provide recommendations for approval, decline, or conditional approval based on assessment findings
  • Prepare clear and concise written summaries to support credit decisions

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all credit assessments align with internal policies, lending guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized records of credit assessments and decisions
  • Support audit, compliance checks, and reporting requirements as needed

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with mortgage brokers, lenders, and internal teams to ensure smooth and timely processing of applications
  • Communicate assessment outcomes, conditions, and concerns clearly and professionally

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve credit assessment workflows, accuracy, and turnaround times
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain industry knowledge

Confidentiality & Data Privacy

  • Handle all client financial and personal information with strict confidentiality
  • Adhere to data protection and privacy standards when managing records and documentation

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years work experience in Mortgage Loan/Home Credit Assessment roles.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven experience supporting mortgage brokers in a credit analyst or mortgage support role
  • Hands-on experience using ApplyOnline, LoanApp, or other relevant mortgage broker platforms
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, credit reports, and serviceability calculations
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and sound decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work closely with brokers and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple broker-led loan applications and meet tight turnaround deadlines
  • Experience supporting the Australian mortgage market is highly advantageous
