Senior Design Engineer, Energy Management

Responsibilities:

  • Lead conceptual/basic design.
  • Assess and understand client cooling load requirements and profiles.
  • Select the best configuration and sizing for main equipment (chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers) considering project constraints (efficiency target, CAPEX, site constraints, operation and maintenance constraints).
  • Design associated water reticulation systems.
  • Liaise with OEMs and potential contractors as required.
  • Calculate and commit to annual system efficiencies.
  • Assess project CAPEX using in-house tools and methodology.
  • Provide inputs for OPEX assessment.
  • Present final recommended design to Regional Technical Engineering team for review and approval.
  • Support Business Development team in client discussions/presentations.
  • Prepare RFPs, terms of references, and specifications for main equipment tenders, EPC contract tenders, engineering consultancy (detailed design) tenders. Review and evaluate offers for technical compliance and commercial competitiveness.
  • Review and validate concept/basic designs proposed by other EM engineers.
  • Oversee detailed design performed by EPC contractors or external consultants, review and validate drawings, calculations, technical submittals, control strategy of systems, I/O points, and sequence of operation.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders (client, consultants, Qualified Person/Professional Engineer, vendors, contractors, internal stakeholders) to ensure smooth information flow and collaborative design development, ensuring committed performances, quality, and no scope gaps.
  • Support project management team during construction and commissioning to validate variations and ensure technical compliance.
  • Monitor ACMV technology market to propose robust and innovative technical solutions.
  • Coach junior colleagues in technical aspects of ACMV systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Thermal, Mechanical, Process, Energy Engineering or equivalent.
  • DOE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), DOE Certified Energy Auditor, or ESCO accreditation is an advantage.
  • 5-8 years of experience as an ACMV design engineer from a mechanical consulting or EPC firm.
  • Excellent understanding of chilled water system design and operation.
  • Experience in cooling systems Operation & Maintenance, control systems, and automation is an advantage.
  • Understanding of key legal and financial drivers impacting technical solutions is an advantage.
  • Understanding of risk management in the energy services industry.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Excellent knowledge of IT tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic AutoCAD skills.
  • Proactive and independent.
  • Organized, rigorous, analytical with strong synthesis skills.
  • Communicative, active personality with team spirit.
  • Excellent professional writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to show initiative and drive continuous improvements.
  • Willing to work in Ortigas Center, Pasig City (Hybrid)
