An RTV (Return to Vendor) clerk is responsible for processing merchandise that needs to be returned to a supplier. This includes inspecting returned goods, documenting the reasons for return, updating inventory in the computer system, obtaining vendor return authorization, and arranging for the items to be shipped back. Key skills for this role include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with inventory management systems. Key responsibilities

  • Inspect and document: Examine returned items for damage, defects, or other issues and document the reasons for return.
  • Inventory management: Update the company's inventory system to reflect the returned items.
  • Vendor authorization: Obtain necessary authorization from vendors for the return of merchandise.
  • Shipping: Package and arrange for the shipment of returned goods back to the appropriate vendor.
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of all return-to-vendor activities.

Required

  • At least College level
  • Basic computer skills (inventory systems, spreadsheets, email).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise (commonly 20–50 lbs depending on employer).
