Kitchen Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting in food preparation and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, assembling food items, and ensuring all tools and work areas meet hygiene standards. Must work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and help ensure food is prepared safely and according to café standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparing ingredients and assembling food items.
  • Help with basic cooking tasks as instructed.
  • Keep the kitchen, equipment, and prep areas clean and sanitized.
  • Organize workstations and label food items properly.
  • Support inventory checks and follow FIFO stock rotation.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff and assist in tasks assigned by the Immediate Head.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and storage guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a kitchen or food prep role is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of food storage and safety practices.
