KITCHEN HELPER

Area of Assignment: Fuente Branch

The Kitchen Helper is responsible for supporting kitchen operations in both the restaurant and pension house setting by performing routine tasks including food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, and assisting cooks and kitchen staff as needed. The role ensures that the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards to enable smooth and efficient meal preparation and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

FOOD PREPARATION SUPPORT

  1. Assists in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
  2. Measures, portions, and arranges ingredients as directed by the cook or kitchen supervisor.
  3. Refills food supplies and ingredients as needed during operations.

CLEANING AND SANITATION

  1. Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen, including floors, walls, work surfaces, and equipment.
  2. Washes dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking tools using proper cleaning procedures.
  3. Disposes of garbage properly and follows waste management practices.
  4. Ensures all sanitation guidelines are followed in accordance with food safety regulations.

SUPPORT TO KITCHEN STAFF

  1. Assists cooks in carrying supplies and delivering prepared food to serving areas.
  2. Informs cooks of any kitchen equipment issues or safety concerns.
  3. Stores food items properly and labels them with dates to avoid spoilage.
  4. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the cook or supervisor during kitchen operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent; kitchen training or food handling certificate is an advantage.
  2. Previous experience as a kitchen Helper or in a hospitality/restaurant setting is a plus but not required.
  3. Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food safety is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of basic food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
  6. Physically fit; able to stand for extended periods and lift items as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typically works in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Shifts may vary, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • May involve working under pressure during peak times (e.g., holidays, special events).
