About the Role

The Marketplace Profitability Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that all marketplace activities—such as promotions, campaigns, and platform charges—are financially sound and aligned with business objectives. This role involves reviewing marketplace billing, validating fees and charges, and conducting profitability analyses to support data-driven decisions on promotional strategies.

As part of an eCommerce enabler, you will collaborate closely with Channel Management, Finance, and Client Teams to help maximize profitability across multiple marketplaces (e.g., Lazada, Shopee, Zalora, and others).

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate marketplace charges and fees (e.g., platform commissions, shipping fees, LazCoins, vouchers, and other deductions).
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed promos, campaigns, and discount strategies to determine profitability and ROI before implementation.
  • Prepare profitability reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and clients, highlighting key insights, variances, and recommendations.
  • Reconcile marketplace billings vs. internal records to identify discrepancies, overcharges, or incorrect deductions.
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights on which promos to push or avoid.
  • Monitor and track ongoing promo performance, ensuring alignment with approved profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with Channel and Finance Teams to ensure promo mechanics and budgets are properly set up and reflected in financial reporting.
  • Continuously improve processes related to marketplace billing validation and profitability analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in eCommerce, finance, accounting, or data analysis (experience in a marketplace or enabler setup is an advantage).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; knowledge of BI tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with marketplace platforms (e.g., Lazada, Shopee, Zalora) and their fee structures is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
