The Merchandise Planning and Inventory Control Officer is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, stock planning, demand forecasting, and replenishment across all business units of Rapid Tech. This role ensures optimal stock levels for retail stores, wholesale operations, and service teams while minimizing overstock, stock-outs, and carrying costs.

The role involves tight coordination with Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Merchandising teams to align inventory with business needs and customer demand.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain demand forecasts and inventory plans for retail, wholesale, and service parts
  • Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and lead times to prevent stock-outs and excess inventory
  • Analyze historical sales, current trends, and market demand to guide stock planning
  • Set inventory targets per product category, location, and sales channel
  • Coordinate replenishment strategies and stock transfers between warehouses and retail locations
  • Lead regular stock audits, variance investigations, and inventory reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy in the item master list, SKU creation, and product categorization
  • Work with Purchasing to optimize order quantities, supplier terms, and delivery schedules
  • Support merchandising strategies with actionable stock insights
  • Generate and present inventory performance reports to management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (required)
  • Experience:
  • 3–5 years in inventory planning, merchandise control, or demand forecasting
  • Experience in electronics, IT hardware, or multi-location retail/wholesale setup is preferred
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, inventory models)
  • Familiarity with inventory systems or ERPs (e.g., Zoho Inventory, QuickBooks, Shopify, SAP)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting capabilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of IT product life cycles and parts compatibility is a plus
