We are seeking an AU Accountant Manager to manage complex taxation matters for small to medium-sized businesses across various industries. The role involves providing expert guidance on property tax, GST applications, CGT complexities, and trust taxation to ensure compliance and optimize client outcomes. This position is critical for delivering accurate tax strategies that support business growth and regulatory adherence.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and review tax returns, including BAS lodgments and income tax declarations
- Advise on GST and Margin Scheme applications to minimize liabilities and ensure accurate reporting
- Handle complex Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations for property disposals and business sales, incorporating relevant concessions and exemptions.
- Apply Small Business CGT Concessions (SBE) to facilitate reduced tax burdens on eligible asset sales and restructurings.
- Manage taxation of trusts, including distribution resolutions and beneficiary assessments
- Conduct Division 7A compliance reviews for private company loans and payments to associated entities.
- Calculate and report Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) obligations, ensuring proper valuation and substantiation for employee benefits.
- Oversee Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) taxation, including audit preparations and contribution compliance.
- Collaborate with accounting teams to integrate tax planning into financial reporting and advisory services.
- Stay updated on Australian tax legislation changes and implements updates to client tax strategies.
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who:
- Bachelor's degree in accountancy or commerce is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an Australian small to mid-tier accounting firm
- Strong expertise in property tax specialization, including valuations and transfer duties
- In-depth knowledge of GST and Margin Scheme applications for real estate and inventory-based businesses
- Proficiency in handling complex CGT matters for property and business assets
- Familiarity with Small Business CGT Concessions (SBE) and their application criteria
- Expertise in taxation of trusts, including discretionary and unit trusts
- Understanding of Division 7A rules for private company distributions and loans
- Experience with FBT calculations and reporting for diverse employee benefit scenarios
- Knowledge of SMSF taxation, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in Xero for tax, BAS, and payroll processing
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate financial assessments
