The Role

To cope with our expansion and business plans, our accounting group is looking for a high-caliber individual to join the team, the US Tax Accountant will handle our in-house accounts and to prepare the accounts for the clients.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities will consist of tax return preparation duties, including tax research, tax planning, and the preparation of supporting work papers for various tax returns and tax related projects.
  • Prepare personal/individual US income tax returns (e.g. Form 1040, Form 2555, Schedule D (Capital Gains), Schedule E (rentals), Form 1116 (foreign tax credit) etc.) and certain international information returns (e.g. Form 8938, Form 3520 etc.) for US individual expats and small business owners
  • Assist in preparation of foreign bank account reports and foreign financial assets (e.g. FBAR/FinCen 114 etc.)
  • Gather data from client organizers, prepare workpapers, and prepare US income tax returns
  • Assist and train junior staff in basic US tax preparation software and workpaper preparation
  • Procedures may range from reviewing software input to working on a tax project from start to finish
  • Input data, identify and resolve technical tax issues, ensure processing and logistical details in filing
  • Identify and carry out other projects as assigned
  • Help with administrative work as needed including mailing, return finalizing, logistics for training preparation (e.g. managing catered lunch logistics, audio-visual resources, training handouts/slides etc.)
  • Work with a variety of diverse mix of tax issues for individuals and their businesses, which may include corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts.
  • You will work closely with seniors, managers, and partners on all phases of the project.
  • The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed
  • Collaboratively working with client team members while building rapport and strong client relationships
  • Participate and support management of client engagement economics (e.g. invoicing, accounts receivable monitoring, budgeting etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
  • Fresh grads are welcome to apply
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Highly organized and keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
  • Passionate and willing to learn
  • Willingness to work in teams and collaborate with US tax colleagues on mutual client issues
