Job Description:

Gaja Kitchen Stories Inc. is building a charming Japanese restaurant renowned for its culinary excellence and vibrant atmosphere, is seeking dedicated Kitchen Helpers/Stewards to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will assist our talented line cooks and head chef in preparing delicious dishes and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist line cooks and the head chef with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment promptly.
  • Help with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries as needed.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all kitchen staff and customers.
  • Support line cooks during busy service periods by ensuring they have the necessary tools and ingredients within reach.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, kitchen surfaces, and shared equipment throughout the shift.
  • Participate in kitchen prep work, such as marinating proteins and measuring ingredients according to recipes.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain an efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting is preferred but not required.
  • A willingness to learn and a strong desire to support the kitchen team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
