The Engineer Head is responsible for the overall management, operation, and maintenance of all engineering systems and facilities of the property. This role ensures that buildings, equipment, and utilities are safe, fully functional, and compliant with regulatory standards while supporting smooth hotel/resort operations and excellent guest experience.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems.

  2. Ensure all facilities, equipment, and machinery are safe, operational, and well-maintained at all times.

  3. Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and service interruptions.

  4. Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of the engineering and maintenance team.

  5. Assign work schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair requests.

  6. Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify defects, risks, or improvement needs.

  7. Ensure compliance with government regulations, building codes, safety standards, and environmental requirements.

  8. Coordinate with government agencies, inspectors, and third-party service providers for permits, certifications, and inspections.

  9. Prepare and manage the engineering department's budget, including utilities, repairs, spare parts, and service contracts.

  10. Control costs by recommending energy-saving measures and efficient use of resources.

  11. Plan, supervise, and manage renovation, repair, and improvement projects.

  12. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to timelines.

  13. Respond promptly to emergency situations, system failures, and urgent operational concerns.

  14. Work closely with other departments to support smooth daily operations and address facility-related concerns.

  15. Prepare reports, maintenance records, and recommendations for management review and decision-making.

Requirements / Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).

  2. Professional Engineer license is preferred and considered an advantage.

  3. Minimum of 5–8 years relevant work experience in engineering, facilities, building, or property management.

  4. At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  5. Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, elevators, and utilities.

  6. Proven experience in preventive maintenance planning and implementation.

  7. Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and government compliance requirements.

  8. Experience in dealing with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

  9. Strong leadership, people-management, and team development skills.

  10. Ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets and control operational costs.

  11. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  12. Good communication and coordination skills with different departments and stakeholders.

  13. Proficient in preparing reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.

  14. Willing to work on-call, during emergencies, or beyond regular working hours when required.

  15. Physically fit and capable of conducting site inspections and supervising technical work.
