Machine Operator Job Description

Job Title: Machine Operator Department: Production / Manufacturing Reports To: Production Supervisor or Plant Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Machine Operator to set up, operate, and maintain machinery used in our production processes. The ideal candidate will ensure machines run efficiently, produce high-quality output, and follow all safety and operational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up machines before the start of production cycles
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, temperature, pressure)
  • Feed raw materials or parts into semi-automated or automated machines
  • Monitor machine operations and inspect output for defects or inconsistencies
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
  • Keep accurate records of production output, machine performance, and downtime
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals
  • Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus
  • Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing setting
  • Familiarity with high-speed machinery and measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
