QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Accountancy Graduate (required)
  • Certificate Public Accountant (preferred)
  • At least 5 years in accounting, 2 years of which in a supervisory position (preferred)

The Accounting Supervisor is involved in most, if not all, the aspects of accounting and oversees the day-to-day activities of the accounting team. They ensure that the organization's finance function is well-organized as well as produces timely and accurate financial statements and management accounts, thus achieving compliance with organizational policies and statutory requirements. They also analyze data and understand the financial performance and position of the organization in order to develop suitable accounting policies to meet reporting requirements and to produce any special reports required by their superiors.

The Accounting Supervisor leads a team of accounting specialists or associates and works closely with the external auditors, bankers, and regulators. They must keep current with changing statutory requirement snd tax laws and determine the implications of such changes to financial reporting. They also work to support the Executive Director and Finance Committee of the Organization to help define the organization's accounting policies, processes, and reporting.

Work Scope:


• Supervision of Accounting Personnel


• Approval of all transactions prior to recording


• Approval of Accounts Payable Vouchers prior to preparation of checks


• Financial Reporting


• Taxes


• Budget Tracking

  • Committee Reporting

Specific Function:

a)      Coordinates with the Committee Chairmen in the preparation of the annual budget of the committees;

b)     Collates the budgets of all Committees and prepares the overall budget of the Institute;

c)      Ensures the updating of the books of accounts;

d)     Prepares financial reports and other supporting schedules;

e)     Determines cash requirements and excess funds of the  Institute that may be available for money market placement;

f Canvasses money market rates from at least three (3) accredited financial institutions to be used for the investment of excess funds;

g)     Facilitates the requirements for the annual audit of financial statements;

h)     Validates requests for payments and replenishment of the petty cash fund;

i Handles government compliance particularly on filing and payment of taxes and remittances

j Reviews daily deposits against issued official receipts;

k)      Reviews the monthly bank reconciliation report;

l Supervises the finance associates and their performance;

m)    Manages the interactions with any external accountants and auditors;

n)     Performs the same duties for the FINEX Research and Development Foundation, Inc. and FINEX Academy, Inc.;

o)     Performs secretarial assistance to assigned Committees (Finance and Audit); and,

p)     Performs such other finance and administrative functions as may be assigned by the Executive Director, Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.
