Chief Legal Officer

JOB SUMMARY :The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and providing strategic legal counsel to the executive team. This position requires a strong background in both law and finance, as well as exceptional leadership and communication skills. Key responsibilities :Compliance: Monitors changes in laws and regulations affecting accounting practices and ensures the firm's compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, and industry standards.

Government Liaising: Establishes and maintains effective communication lines and relationships with government agencies and instrumentalities. Corporate Housekeeping: Provides centralized oversight of the organization's ethics and compliance efforts, including the administration, investigation, and enforcement of the organization's ethics and compliance plan and policies. Risk Management: Identifies and assesses legal risks associated with the firm's operations and develops strategies to mitigate these effectively.

Contract Management: Oversees the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts with clients, vendors, and partners to protect the firm's interests and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Litigation Management: Manages any legal disputes or litigation involving the firm, including working with external legal counsel when necessary, to achieve favorable outcomes.Corporate Governance: Provides guidance on corporate governance matters, including board governance, ethics, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Mergers and Acquisitions: Provides legal support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and contract negotiation.

Internal Legal Advice: Provides sound legal advice and guidance to stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and employees, on a wide range of legal issues affecting the group's operations. Training and Education: Develops and delivers training programs on legal and compliance topics to ensure that employees across the organization understand their legal obligations and responsibilities. Policy Formulation and Implementation: Leads in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance and promote best practices in corporate governance and risk management.

Qualifications :Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a reputable law school. Being a CPA Lawyer is an advantage. Member in good standing of the Philippine Bar.

At least 5 years of experience in leading a legal department/division with a focus on corporate, labor, and tax law. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
