Network Administrator

The Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing the school's entire IT infrastructure, ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable technology services across academic and administrative functions. This role includes supervising a team of MIS Technical Operations staff, managing the network systems, institutional applications, and ensuring seamless operation of platforms such as the Learning Management System (LMS), Edusite, Gmail, and other school applications.
The position requires both technical expertise and strategic leadership to support the school's mission through technology-driven excellence.
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of MIS Tech Ops staff, ensuring efficient daily operations.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, monitor performance, and conduct evaluations.
- Provide technical guidance and encourage skill development within the MIS team.
- Coordinate with school administration and department heads to align IT objectives with institutional goals.
2. Network Management
- Design, install, and maintain LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi networks, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ensure continuous, reliable network connectivity across all campus facilities.
- Manage IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and VPN configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or system performance issues efficiently.
3. Application & System Administration
- Administer and maintain the school's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring uptime, user access, and integration with academic processes.
- Oversee and manage Edusite, Gmail for Education, and other core institutional applications.
- Ensure user provisioning, access control, and security across all systems.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative offices to improve workflows through technology.
- Oversee upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting of all institutional software systems.
4. Security & Data Protection
- Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity and data protection measures.
- Manage firewalls, antivirus systems, and data backup procedures.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection standards (local and international).
- Conduct regular system and network security audits.
5. Systems & Infrastructure Support
- Manage and maintain school servers (Windows, Linux, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365).
- Oversee system updates, patches, and scheduled maintenance.
- Provide escalation support for complex technical issues from the MIS team.
- Maintain IT asset inventory and coordinate procurement with vendors.
6. IT Planning, Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and application systems.
- Prepare periodic reports on system uptime, performance, and project progress.
- Assist in annual IT budgeting and procurement planning.
- Research and recommend emerging technologies to enhance teaching and operational efficiency.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred Certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified (Windows Server / Azure), Google Certified Administrator, or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT or network administration.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience in managing LMS platforms, school information systems, and cloud-based productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Edusite).
- Prior experience in a school or educational institution is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPNs).
- Expertise in firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos) and Wi-Fi administration.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, and school management systems.
- Proficiency in backup solutions, cybersecurity tools, and network monitoring software (PRTG, SolarWinds).

Work Environment
- On-campus role with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or upgrades.
