A Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Head is a leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the entire organization's quality management system. Key duties include creating quality plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies, managing audits, coordinating with suppliers and clients, resolving quality issues, and leading a team to achieve quality objectives. The role requires strong communication, analytical, and project management skills to maintain high-quality standards for products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop & Implement Quality Systems:

Create and maintain a comprehensive quality management system, including policies, procedures, and objectives, to meet project and organizational requirements.

  • Monitor & Audit:

Actively monitor quality activities, conduct internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (such as ISO 9001), and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage Non-Conformances:

Oversee the reporting and resolution of non-conforming products or processes, taking corrective and remedial actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Collaborate & Coordinate:

Work closely with other departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to review quality plans, coordinate inspections, and ensure everyone understands quality expectations.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

Establish and maintain thorough documentation procedures for all quality-related processes and provide accurate, relevant data and analysis to senior management.

  • Team Leadership & Training:

Lead and mentor a QA/QC team, provide training to project teams on quality plans, and hold them accountable for self-inspection and adherence to quality standards.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality performance, seeking client feedback, and leveraging technology and scientific research.

Strong understanding of quality assurance and control processes and relevant industry standards.

Ability to analyze data, critically evaluate situations, and develop effective solutions for quality issues.

  • Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey quality protocols, provide feedback, and prepare documentation.

  • Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.

  • Experience:

Significant work experience in a QA/QC role, often including management experience, and potentially certifications like Lead Auditor certification.

Required skills and qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience as a QA Manager, QA Lead, or similar role, with 5+ years in quality assurance (QA) and at least 2 years in a management position.
  • Proven experience managing QA teams, including training, performance management, and team development.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Background in developing and managing automated test suites using tools (Selenium, TestNG, QTP, or similar) and scripting languages.
  • Experience with software testing, defect tracking, and quality management systems (JIRA, TestRail, Quality Centre).
  • Experience with performance testing, load testing, and security testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to implement QA processes in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve quality objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred skills and qualifications
  • Master's degree in Quality Management or a related field.
  • Relevant certification in Quality Management (Six Sigma, ISO 9001, ISTQB).
  • Experience with cloud-based QA tools and testing in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of security testing and quality assurance compliances in India.
  • Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools (JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Familiarity with database testing and data management tools (SQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and quality control processes.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins or Git for continuous integration/continuous testing.
  • Experience with mobile app testing (iOS/Android).
  • Experience in using statistical analysis and quality control tools.
