Performance Test Engineer

Activities

• Conduct performance data validation and analysis for renewable energy systems.
• Analyze field data and translate findings into actionable performance models.
• Coordinate site performance analysis and issue resolution with operations and maintenance partners.
• Perform configuration reviews (including 8760/TMY, as-built drawings, contracts, and SETMY documentation).
• Carry out periodic system assessments and prepare performance reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual).
• Review generated reports for accuracy and data integrity, ensuring proper documentation of operational events as required by client or regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and submit performance reports to regulatory authorities for rebate and renewable energy certificate compliance.
• Develop and maintain documentation systems for tracking causes of low performance or availability, including improvement plans.
• Analyze field test results (voltage/current, I–V curve tracing, energy meter verification) and ensure proper database entry and filing.
• Manage and maintain organized physical and electronic documentation for performance and field test data.
• Ensure process documents and work instructions are regularly updated.
• Provide support for technical or process-related escalations and inquiries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for process alignment and issue resolution.
• Partner with management to identify, plan, and implement business process improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement to resolve complex requirement conflicts.
• Attend regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to align on project goals and updates.
• Lead user onboarding and training sessions for tools, systems, and processes.
• Develop and maintain team trackers and data management tools.
• Collaborate regularly with performance and reliability engineering teams.
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) for newly developed tools and applications.
• Define and document new workflow processes, recommending process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Address performance-related inquiries from stakeholders and partner teams.
• Perform additional duties as aligned with the role's scope and objectives.

Context and Environment

Part of the
Performance & Data Analytics Team
, responsible for supporting the Commercial Operations & Maintenance (O&M) organization. The team works closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), and Asset Management functions to ensure operational excellence. The group continuously reviews business needs, refines priorities, and identifies risks and opportunities for improvement.

Senior Performance Engineer
is responsible for data validation, analysis, and reporting to ensure the optimal performance of commercial renewable energy assets. The role involves collaboration with O&M, Asset Management, and site stakeholders to maintain system performance aligned with customer expectations and contractual obligations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer/Telecommunications).
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in performance analysis, data analytics, or power generation.

Essential Qualifications

• Strong understanding of photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar technology, and power generation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience with ticketing or case management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Skilled in document management and process documentation.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Customer-oriented, with strong initiative and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to interpret technical documents, manuals, and drawings.
• Effective in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the renewable energy or power generation industry, particularly in instrumentation and performance analytics.
• Proficiency in advanced analytical tools (PowerFactors, AlsoEnergy, PI ProcessBook).
• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with SQL and Python programming is a plus.
• Strong mathematical and analytical reasoning skills, including statistical analysis and data modeling.
• Experience with process improvement, workflow design, and automation initiatives.
• Willingness to work on flexible schedules, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
