Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Planning & Execution:
- Oversee the entire procurement process from requisition to receipt, including sourcing, negotiation, order placement, and vendor management.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the timely delivery of quality goods and services at the best possible prices.
- Analyze market trends and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Conduct competitive bidding processes and evaluate bids from multiple vendors.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve any delivery or quality issues.
Vendor Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and address any performance concerns.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to expand the company's vendor base.
- Resolve supplier disputes and negotiate resolutions.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a team of purchasing assistants or buyers.
- Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor team performance.
- Train and develop team members on procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock levels to meet production and operational needs.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as production and warehouse, to optimize inventory management.
- Implement strategies to minimize inventory holding costs and reduce stockouts.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Track and analyze key procurement metrics, such as purchase order lead times, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities and performance for management review.
- Utilize data analysis to identify areas for improvement in the procurement process.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
