The client is a U.S.-based self-storage acquisition and management company focused on growing a portfolio of high-performing storage facilities. With five locations currently in operation and a sixth being acquired, the client emphasizes operational excellence, investor transparency, and strategic growth. Their business model is built on strong financial discipline, streamlined systems, and long-term value creation.

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Finance & Accounting Associate to join the team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day financial operations across multiple business entities, including bookkeeping, budgeting, vendor payments, and reporting. You will work closely with the owner to provide financial insights and forecasting, while supporting the growth and strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate financial records across multiple LLCs using QuickBooks Online
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Ensure financial practices are compliant with relevant tax laws and standards

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Develop and manage individual budgets for each self-storage facility
  • Monitor performance against budget and identify discrepancies
  • Collaborate with the owner on financial forecasting and projections

Vendor & Payment Management

  • Review and process invoices from contractors and service providers
  • Manage vendor payments through Mercury Bank, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Financial Analysis & Valuation

  • Assist with the financial analysis and valuation of new acquisition opportunities
  • Compile and analyze relevant financial data
  • Support the creation of models for due diligence and investment decisions

Investor Reporting

  • Prepare periodic financial reports for investors, in collaboration with the owner
  • Maintain organized and accurate reporting records

Process Improvement & General Tasks

  • Identify and suggest improvements to accounting and reporting workflows
  • Take on general business or administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping (self-storage industry experience is a plus)
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable requirement)
  • Familiarity with the Profit First methodology is highly preferred
  • Strong skills in Google Sheets and cloud-based collaboration tools
  • Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote team environment
