Job Summary:

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and procurement of materials, components, and services required for industrial manufacturing operations. The role combines engineering knowledge with strategic sourcing expertise to identify, qualify, and manage suppliers that meet technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The position involves market analysis, supplier relationship management, and continuous cost improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and business growth.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development

  • Identify and develop qualified suppliers with a competitive advantage in cost, quality, technology, and delivery.
  • Implement long-term sourcing strategies to ensure supply stability and business continuity.
  • Leverage deep industry networks to scout for new sources, alternative materials, and manufacturing partners.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations in coordination with Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Negotiate and establish supply agreements or contracts with key vendors.

2. Market & Cost Analysis

  • Perform comprehensive market research and benchmark studies on materials, commodities, and supplier performance.
  • Analyze cost structures and market trends to support price negotiations and procurement strategies.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the supply base (e.g., geopolitical, economic, technological factors).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing processes, raw materials, and emerging sourcing technologies.

3. Procurement & Purchasing Operations

  • Manage the entire procurement cycle: request for quotation (RFQ), bid evaluation, negotiation, and purchase order issuance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet production and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure material specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.

4. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives in collaboration with R&D and manufacturing.
  • Optimize inventory levels and procurement processes for efficiency and savings.
  • Support cross-functional teams in resolving supplier issues or technical challenges.
  • Implement digital tools, KPIs, and dashboards for procurement performance monitoring.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles in industrial/manufacturing sectors.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and procurement tools.
  • Proficiency in cost modeling and supplier evaluation techniques.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Strong strategic mindset with a high sense of ownership and integrity.
  • Ability to build and maintain supplier networks and partnerships.
