The Laundry Supervisor supports the Laundry Manager in running the hotel's laundry operations to deliver consistent, high-quality service. This role ensures efficient handling of linens, uniforms, and guest laundry while supervising daily staff activities, maintaining quality and hygiene standards, and monitoring cost and resource use. The Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring smooth workflow and guest satisfaction in a budget hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Phase
- Assist the Laundry Manager in setting up the laundry facility, equipment, and workflow layout.
- Participate in the development of laundry Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Help recruit, train, and onboard laundry attendants.
- Ensure readiness of supplies, chemicals, and initial stock before hotel opening.
Operational Phase (Detailed Responsibilities)
Daily Operations & Workflow
- Supervise and coordinate all laundry activities: collection, sorting, washing, drying, pressing, folding, and distribution.
- Assign tasks to attendants, monitor progress, and adjust workloads based on hotel occupancy and volume.
- Ensure timely processing and delivery of guest laundry, staff uniforms, and hotel linens.
- Step in and perform laundry tasks when needed to maintain productivity during peak times.
Quality Control
- Inspect finished laundry items for stains, tears, or damage before release.
- Ensure consistent adherence to hotel standards for cleanliness, appearance, and fabric care.
- Implement spot checks during the laundry cycle to catch issues early.
- Track recurring quality problems (e.g., persistent stains or fabric damage) and escalate to the Laundry Manager.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise attendants to ensure compliance with SOPs, safety, and hygiene protocols.
- Provide on-the-job training in stain removal, equipment handling, and fabric care.
- Monitor staff punctuality, performance, and grooming standards.
- Motivate the team and maintain positive morale during busy operations.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor par levels of linens and uniforms, ensuring smooth rotation and availability.
- Record daily laundry output and report shortages, damages, or unusual consumption.
- Track and manage detergent and chemical usage to avoid waste.
- Ensure soiled, damaged, or discarded linens are documented and reported.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Conduct daily checks of machines for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Report malfunctions or breakdowns immediately to Engineering.
- Ensure safe and correct use of all laundry equipment by staff.
- Assist in scheduling preventive maintenance with the Laundry Manager.
Guest Service
- Ensure all guest laundry is collected, processed, and returned within promised timelines.
- Handle guest laundry instructions (special washing, delicate fabrics, urgent requests) accurately.
- Escalate guest complaints to the Laundry Manager and assist in quick service recovery.
Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure the laundry area is kept clean, organized, and hazard-free at all times.
- Enforce use of PPE (gloves, masks, aprons) and safe chemical handling.
- Train staff in proper handling of soiled linens to avoid cross-contamination.
- Comply with fire safety, emergency, and workplace safety procedures.
Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain daily production records (kg processed, linen losses, guest laundry logs).
- Submit shift reports and highlight operational issues to the Laundry Manager.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping for linen flow and with Front Office for guest billing of laundry services.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education & Experience:
- At least 2–3 years of laundry experience in hotels, with 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
- Solid knowledge of laundry equipment, procedures, and fabric care.
- Experience in budget/midscale hotels is an advantage.

- Efficient in managing time, staff schedules, and workflow.
