Job Title: Research Coordinator – Cacao Operations

Department: Cacao Operations / Research and Development

Job Summary:

The Research Coordinator for Cacao Operations is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring research initiatives related to cacao production, sustainability, and quality improvement. The role involves designing research protocols, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting the development of best practices to enhance productivity, crop resilience, and farmer livelihoods.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research Coordination

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee research activities related to cacao cultivation, pest management, fertilization, and post-harvest handling.
  • Assist in designing experimental trials and protocols to evaluate new technologies, farming systems, and cacao varieties.
  • Ensure all research projects are aligned with company goals and timelines.

2. Data Collection and Analysis

  • Collect, record, and analyze research data from field trials, farms, and laboratories.
  • Prepare periodic reports and research summaries for management and partner institutions.
  • Maintain accurate databases and documentation of research results.

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with operations teams, agronomists, and field technicians to implement research activities on-site.
  • Coordinate with external research partners, universities, and government agencies on collaborative cacao studies.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to management and field teams for practical application.

4. Field Support and Monitoring

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor research plots and ensure proper implementation of trial protocols.
  • Provide technical support and training to field personnel and farmers involved in research trials.

5. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications summarizing research outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with research ethics, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2–3 years of experience in agricultural research, preferably in cacao or crop production.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in the field
