The Junior Legal Counsel provides legal support and assistance to the legal department and senior legal staff within an organization. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting documents, managing legal files, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Junior Legal Counsel will work under the supervision of senior legal professionals and contribute to various legal and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct legal research on various topics as directed by senior legal counsel.
  • Analyze statutes, regulations, and case law to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal developments and inform the team accordingly.

Drafting and Document Preparation:

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
  • Prepare legal memos, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Ensure all documents comply with legal standards and organizational policies.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of compliance programs.
  • Assist in identifying potential legal risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Litigation Support:

  • Provide support in managing litigation and dispute resolution processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of litigation documents and evidence.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain and organize legal files and records.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Manage legal department's administrative tasks, including billing and invoicing.

Client and Stakeholder Interaction:

  • Communicate with internal departments and external parties regarding legal matters.
  • Provide legal support and advice to other departments within the organization.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training sessions on legal topics.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Experience:

  • With atleast 1 year of legal experience, preferably in a corporate or law firm setting.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
