Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented CAD Operator – Civil/Structural Engineering to support our design and engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil drafting with a strong emphasis on structural detailing. You will be responsible for producing and revising technical drawings and plans for a variety of infrastructure and building projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with additional focus on structural elements such as foundations, retaining walls, concrete and steel framing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed structural and civil engineering drawings including plans, sections, and details for foundations, beams, columns, slabs, retaining walls, and site layouts.
  • Prepare and revise civil site development drawings (grading, drainage, utilities) and integrate structural requirements.
  • Translate engineer-provided markups, sketches, and calculations into precise CAD drawings.
  • Coordinate closely with civil and structural engineers to ensure drawing accuracy and adherence to design intent.
  • Perform quality control checks on drawings and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, local building codes).
  • Maintain a clean, organized drawing database and adhere to company CAD standards and file-naming conventions.
  • Assist in preparing construction documentation, shop drawings, and as-built records.
  • Attend coordination meetings (in-person or virtual) and respond to design changes in a timely manner.
  • Assist with quantity take-offs and preparation of material schedules as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience as a CAD operator or structural drafter in civil and structural engineering projects.
  • Software Proficiency:
  • Strong command of AutoCAD and Civil 3D and As Built Experience
  • Proficiency with structural detailing tools (e.g., Revit Structure, AutoCAD Structural Detailing, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Solid understanding of structural systems (concrete, steel, masonry, timber) and their drafting requirements.
  • Familiarity with civil site design and documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and civil engineering plans and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in infrastructure, building design, or heavy civil projects.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards such as ACI, AISC, and ASCE.
  • AutoCAD or Civil 3D certification preferred.
  • Experience working with engineers, architects, and contractors across multidisciplinary projects.
