Position Overview

The Aquaculture Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the aquaculture facility, ensuring optimal production of fish, shrimp, or other aquatic species. The role involves managing farm staff, maintaining water quality, ensuring biosecurity, overseeing feeding and harvesting activities, and implementing sustainable aquaculture practices to achieve production and financial targets.

Key ResponsibilitiesFarm Operations & Production

  • Plan, organize, and supervise the daily farm activities (stocking, feeding, grading, harvesting).
  • Monitor fish/shrimp growth, survival rates, and overall health condition.
  • Ensure proper water quality management and biosecurity protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, feed, mortality, treatments, and harvests.
  • Implement best aquaculture practices to maximize yield and minimize losses.

Resource & Facility Management

  • Oversee maintenance of ponds, tanks, cages, and farm equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and use of feeds, medicines, and farm supplies.
  • Manage waste disposal and environmental compliance in line with government regulations.

Team Management

  • Supervise, train, and schedule farm workers.
  • Promote safety standards and enforce company policies on-site.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to farm staff.

Planning & Reporting

  • Develop production plans and schedules aligned with market demand.
  • Monitor feed conversion ratios (FCR), stocking density, and production KPIs.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly farm performance reports.
  • Coordinate with procurement and sales teams for supply and market requirements.

Financial & Compliance

  • Assist in budget preparation, cost control, and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with government permits, food safety standards, and environmental laws.
  • Explore opportunities for farm expansion and adoption of new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Marine Biology, Agriculture, or related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in aquaculture farm operations (fish, shrimp, or related species).
  • Strong knowledge of aquaculture systems (ponds, cages, RAS, hatcheries).
  • Familiarity with water quality management, disease control, and biosecurity practices.
  • Good leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in basic farm management software, MS Office, or record-keeping tools.
