  • Patient Preparation: Preparing patients for the 2D echo procedure, including explaining the process, positioning the patient, and applying gel.
  • Equipment Operation: Operating the 2D echo machine and transducer to capture high-quality images of the heart.
  • Data Acquisition: The technician uses the ultrasound transducer to capture images of the heart from different angles. By placing the transducer on specific areas of the chest, they obtain various views of the heart's structures including the four chambers, valves and blood vessels.
  • Preliminary Analysis: Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians for diagnosis.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitoring patient vital signs and comfort during the procedure, alerting physicians to any abnormalities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring the equipment is in good working order, performing minor troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Result Reporting: Assisting with the preparation and release of 2D echo results.
  • Clerical and Administrative Tasks: May include tasks such as scheduling patients, maintaining records, and ordering supplies.
  • May also assist with other cardiovascular procedures: This may include ECGs and stress tests.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Allied Health course (e.g., Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Respiratory Therapy)
  • With valid 2D Echo training certificate (Required)
  • With 1–2 years of relevant work experience in a clinical or diagnostic setting
  • Detail-oriented and technically proficient
