Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced
Mainframe Storage Administrator (z/OS)
to manage and support daily operations and service delivery for Mainframe OS/Storage environments. This is a
hands-on technical role
requiring deep expertise in mainframe storage systems, performance tuning, and incident management.

The ideal candidate will work closely with client and customer Mainframe SMEs, ensuring system stability, meeting SLA targets, and supporting critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage
    BAU (Business-As-Usual)
    service delivery for Mainframe OS and Storage.
  • Work daily with client/customer mainframe OS/Storage SMEs and peers.
  • Handle
    Major Incidents (MI), Priority-1 (P1)
    tickets, and lower-priority support issues.
  • Investigate and resolve
    Problems/RCA
    ; manage
    Change/CMR
    tickets (including weekend changes).
  • Provide
    business-hours and on-call support
    as required.
  • Support mainframe projects such as
    hardware, OS, and ISV product upgrades
    .
  • Ensure
    99.99% system availability
    and adherence to agreed
    SLAs
    .

Primary Requirements

  • Proven ability to monitor, support, and maintain mainframe DASD tools.
  • Manage and optimize storage performance and efficiency.
  • Assign and initialize direct access storage volumes.
  • Determine data set and volume placement for optimal resource utilization.
  • Maintain and enforce direct access storage standards and best practices.
  • Forecast and manage space requirements in line with client needs.
  • Design, implement, and maintain DASD pooling structures.
  • Perform
    catalog and data migration management
    .
  • Provide support for all DASD-related problems and perform regular storage backups.
  • Plan and execute
    hardware lifecycle management and upgrades
    .

Technical Skills & Experience

Mainframe Hardware & Systems:

  • Hands-on experience with
    IBM z14/z15/z16
    and
    Sysplex
    configurations.
  • Expertise in
    z/OS v2.x
    ,
    JES2
    ,
    DFSMS
    ,
    VTAM
    ,
    RACF/ACF2
    ,
    TCP/IP
    ,
    OMVS
    ,
    RMF/SMF
    .
  • Knowledge of
    SMP/E
    , ISV products, UserMods, and system exits.
  • Proficiency with
    IPL/POR procedures
    and mainframe console operations.

Tools & Automation:

  • Experience with
    OMEGAMON, TEPS, NetView, SIEM
    tools.
  • Skilled in
    Assembler, REXX, JCL, CA-OPS/MVS Automation
    .
  • Expertise in
    IODF/IOCDS
    ,
    HCD/HCM
    , and mainframe performance tuning.
  • Proficient in
    PARMLIB/PROCLIB
    management and memory region customization.

Storage Systems & Disaster Recovery:

  • Experience with
    Hitachi VSP 5500, IBM DS8000, IBM TS7000, EMC VMAX/PowerMax, DLm
    hardware.
  • Knowledge of
    IBM Metro/Global Mirror, Copy Services, EMC SRDF, EMC GDDR
    .
  • Hands-on experience with
    DFSMS suite, CA-1, IBM CSM
    .
  • Expertise in
    FlashCopy, BCV-SnapVX, zDP, and SafeGuarded Copy (SGC)
    .
  • Manage
    mainframe data center storage replication
    and virtual tape libraries.
  • Participate in
    Disaster Recovery (DR)
    planning and execution.
  • Experience in
    MIPS optimization
    and software rationalization.
