Cost and Inventory Accounting Assistant

Job Summary:

The Cost and Inventory Accounting Assistant provides vital support to the Inventory and Cost Accountant – Junior Manager in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all cost and inventory-related financial records. This role is responsible for monitoring daily inventory movements, validating pricing components, preparing gross margin analyses, and assisting in SAP postings and reconciliations. The position also contributes to tax compliance support, audit preparation, and continuous process improvement to enhance operational efficiency and financial control within Filoil Logistics Corporation.

Key Responsibilities:

Track and monitor daily inventory movements, including receipts, issuances, and transfers across depots and terminals.

Analyze cost and pricing components to support accurate computation of Gross Margin (GM).

Record, validate, and reconcile inventory and cost transactions in SAP or relevant ERP modules.

Assist in month-end closing activities, including standard cost updates, cost roll-ups, and preparation of inventory valuation reports.

Reconcile inventory-related accounts (e.g., clearing, in-transit, and cost variance accounts) to ensure consistency between physical and book balances.

Collaborate with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Depot Operations to validate stock levels and resolve discrepancies.

Support financial, tax, and audit documentation, including preparation of BIR schedules, LGU, and BOI compliance reports.

Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation of inventory and cost records for audit readiness and internal control purposes.

Participate in the development of automated reports and data analysis tools to improve accuracy and timeliness of cost monitoring.

Identify areas for cost optimization and recommend process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy (CPA license preferred but not required).

At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or financial analysis, preferably within logistics, petroleum, manufacturing, or FMCG industries.

Strong understanding of costing principles, inventory valuation methods (FIFO, weighted average), and standard costing systems.

Hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systems, particularly in Material Management (MM), Finance (FI), and Controlling (CO) modules.

Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, IF, SUMIF, and data consolidation functions.

Knowledgeable in tax compliance procedures (BIR, LGU, BOI) and related documentation.

Strong analytical and numerical ability, with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent time management skills; able to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Effective communication and coordination skills; able to work well both independently and within a team.
