Job Summary

The Finance Assistant Manager supports the Finance Manager in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, assists in budget preparation, enforces financial controls, and provides supervision to junior finance staff. The position plays a key role in enhancing financial performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
  • Coordinate and review the work of accountants, bookkeepers, and finance officers to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
  • Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Review and verify financial transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS), and relevant tax or regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in managing external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to queries.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to minimize risk and improve financial accuracy.
  • Support system improvements and automation efforts to enhance financial processes.
  • Mentor and train junior finance staff to build team capability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's or MBA is a plus).
  • 4–6 years of relevant financial experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Solid knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred but not required.
