Key Duties and Responsibilities and nature of the company/business:
This position is responsible for supporting accounting for inventory consumption during operations on ships & transfers between locations. Supporting monthly, quarterly & yearly close & accurate reporting of inventory & reserve balances, including help with variance explanations. Key functions include understanding & making journal entries, accounting for voyage, preparing reconciliations, researching material variances, adhering to deadlines for close & reporting & communicating with operations to resolve issues.
The candidate will work with both onshore Manager, offshore Supervisor & other onshore staff accountants & contractors to receive training & guidance on the applicable responsibilities. The review of job performed, including journal entries & reconciliations, will be done by managers & can also include initial review by other staff accountants. Challenges include continually meeting deadlines & developing relationships with various departments outside of inventory.
* Record inventory consumption & adjustments upon voyage completion
* Record inventory activity for warehouses
* Monthly close accruals, clean up & re class JEs
* Quarterly close split voyage accruals & variance explanations
* Reconciliation preparation & research
* Help with process improvement implementation efforts & make suggestions
* Help with reserve assessment file preparation
* With understanding in normal balances of the accounts, P&L and Balance Sheets.
* Preparing journal entries and analyzing basic reports.
* Meet deadlines for close & reconciliations
