Legal and Compliance Officer

  1. Advising the business on a wide range of legal and compliance matters, including corporate, commercial, regulatory and transactional issues
  2. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and legal documents
  3. Monitoring and interpreting changes in relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards to ensure the company's practices remain compliant
  4. Developing and implementing robust compliance frameworks, policies and procedures
  5. Providing training and guidance to staff on legal and compliance requirements
  6. Representing the company in dealings with regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders
  7. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Attorney and member of the Philippine Bar.
  • 5 + years experience of working in corporate law, preferably within financial services, microfinance or fintech.
  • Superior judgment and rigor in relation to problem solving and appropriate escalation of issues
  • Solid understanding of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), National Privacy Commission (NPC) regulations including AMLA (Anti-Money Laundering Act) and Data Privacy Act requirements.
  • Excellent skills in legal research combined with strong analytical abilities that enable you to interpret complex legislation effectively.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, advisory skills and strong business judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, prioritise workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Filipino.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a dynamic regulatory and business environment.
