In this role as Labor & Employment Counsel, you will take on a key responsibility in serving as the company's in-house legal expert on Philippine labor and employment law and data privacy, ensuring full compliance with DOLE regulations and the Data Privacy Act of 2012. You will provide strategic advice to mitigate legal risks, contributing to our ongoing efforts to drive business success and enhance customer satisfaction.

What you'll do

  • Provide expert advice on all aspects of Philippine labor and employment law, ensuring compliance with the Labor Code, DOLE regulations, and related government issuances.
  • Draft, review, and update employment contracts, company policies, and employee handbooks.
  • Support the development and execution of strategies by advising HR and management on employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, terminations, and grievance handling.
  • Contribute valuable insights by interpreting new laws, issuances, and jurisprudence affecting BPO employment practices and updating management accordingly.
  • Manage and prioritize workloads by representing the company in labor-related proceedings before DOLE, NLRC, or other agencies.
  • Build strong relationships across departments by conducting training for HR, Operations, and Management teams on relevant labor regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Support leadership in strategic decision-making by providing legal support during workforce restructuring, retrenchment, redundancy, or outsourcing transitions.
  • Act as the Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer and liaise with government agencies (DOLE, NLRC, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG) on compliance matters.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD) from a recognized university and Member in good standing of the Philippine Bar.
  • Minimum of years' experience in labor and employment law, preferably with exposure to the BPO or service industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, including handling DOLE audits, employee disputes, and policy development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams across regions and articulate legal advice clearly in English and Filipino.
  • Detail orientation with a deep understanding of Philippine labor legislation, jurisprudence, and compliance standards.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance legal compliance with operational practicality.
  • A team-oriented approach, with the ability to manage sensitive matters with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficiency in using business systems, tools, and technology to deliver services effectively.
