Roles and Responsibilities
PROGRAM PURCHASING
Maintains accurate MRP/ERP data and ensures timely entry and
management of purchase orders.
- Manages vendor relationships, including sourcing, qualification, and
negotiation of pricing and delivery terms.
- Ensures compliance with purchasing policies, signature authority, and
SOX audit requirements.
- Coordinates with suppliers and internal teams to resolve exceptions
(e.g., delays, expedites, cancellations) and optimize product flow.
- Monitors inventory levels, defines safety stock (SS) and minimum
order quantities (MOQ), and addresses slow-moving/obsolete
inventory.
- Supports cost-saving initiatives, tracks savings, and collaborates with
Commodity Leads.
- Analyzes BOMs, routings, and demand to place accurate orders and
maintain production schedules.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts, including vendormanaged inventory and long-term agreements (LTAs).
- Prepares reports, maintains records, and contributes to crossfunctional projects.
- Demonstrates knowledge of trade compliance, logistics, incoterms,
and contract basics.
Writes departmental procedures and resolves shipment issues cost effectively.
PROGRAM PLANNING
Maintains accurate forecast and capacity data in ERP; develops and
monitors production schedules to meet delivery commitments.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations,
Logistics) to align on customer requirements, material availability, and
production timelines.
- Creates, releases, maintains, and closes work orders; leads
scheduling meetings for assigned product lines.
- Defines and maintains kanban levels for raw materials and
subassemblies.
- Supports product transfers at the component level, including BOM
analysis, planning parameter updates, and scheduling across
workcenters or clusters.
- Tracks and reports on MPS adherence, load status, queue times,
inventory, and capacity utilization.
- Analyzes and maintains MRP data, including BOMs, routings,
standard times, and planning parameters.
- Identifies and implements improvements to planning processes and
standard work practices.
- Participates in daily tier meetings, PRBs, and collaborative calls with
local and foreign counterparts.
- Coordinates re-inspection and shipment of parts; resolves logistics
and customer shipment issues.
NPIs
Ensures raw material availability by analyzing supply risks and driving
expedites to prevent shortages.
- Develops production schedules based on engineering plans and
specifications; monitors progress to ensure alignment with timelines.
- Conducts weekly supply and demand analysis (from fabrication to
finished goods) and generates reports.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Operations to meet critical orders,
program deliverables, and key metrics.
- Prepares capacity and material loading plans based on internal and
external demand.
- Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) by preparing systems,
driving process changes, and minimizing excess supply risks.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives for NPI planning to enhance
productivity and reduce costs.
Represents NPI Planning in operational meetings and crossfunctional discussions.
MISCELLANEOUS
Complete required training in a timely manner
- Assist other purchasing staff with their duties as requested
- Assist with other projects as requested by a member of management
- Assist in the development, implementation and attainment of "Key
Performance Indicators" (KPI)
- Be cognizant of current production problems, field failures and
customer complaints and evaluate impact to buying and planning
function
- Represents buying / planning function in operations meeting
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, IT, Commerce, Accounting or Bachelor's Degree in any course.
- With at least 3 years of prior relevant experience.
