Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer role within the Network and Telecom Services Team requires strong technical and communication skills. The responsibilities include analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and improving network infrastructure to ensure it is secure, reliable, and performs optimally for a global enterprise environment. The role also involves leveraging cloud technologies, automation tools, and scripting to streamline network operations, enhance security posture, and ensure the reliability of the global network.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough understanding of network services, including DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NTP, SNMP, Network Security, IP Routing, IPsec/SSL VPN, NAT, LAN/WAN, and wireless technologies.
- Configure and maintain different Cisco Devices, PaloAlto Next Generation Firewall and Threat Management Appliances, Cisco IPsec VPN technologies, Cisco ISE, F5 Load Balancers, AWS environments, Netskope Proxy services.
- Design, configure, and maintain complex and high-availability data center enterprise network environments.
- Design, configure, and maintain complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice applications.
- Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, Ether-Channel, LACP, layer2 Trunking, VPC, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Gateway Load Balancer, Route 53.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software to resolve operational issues and restore services. Interpret diagnostic output and leverage packet captures for analysis.
- Create high- and low-level designs for on-prem/AWS/Azure networks (VPC, VGW, Direct Connect, VPN, SD-WAN, MPLS)
- Implement cloud-native networking solutions, including SD-WAN, hybrid cloud, and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Ansible, or similar tools to automate network configurations, deployments, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with the security team to ensure the network infrastructure is secure, with a focus on protecting data integrity and confidentiality. Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support.
- Provide clear and concise reports on network health, security posture, and incident resolutions to senior management.
- Leverage network monitoring solutions to proactively detect and address performance bottlenecks as well as potential security risks.
Qualifications
- 7 Years of hands-on technical experience working in a CISCO environment including CISCO Routers/Switches and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on extensive experience with TCP/IP, OSPF, RIP, HSRP, BGP, VLAN's, EIGRP, VRF, STP, IPsec, Site-to-site VPN, VoIP and GRE Tunnels is mandatory.
- Experience in configuring and deploying, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers and access points.
- Strong knowledge on IP networking including LAN, WAN, SDWAN, WIFI, cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups), and hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Strong security awareness and focus; knowledge of security principles including business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Demonstrated success migrating legacy DC to cloud-native, containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes CNI, Calico, Istio service mesh).
- Experience providing subject matter expert (SME) role within PaloAlto and F5 LoadBalancer technologies is highly preferred.
- Experience in designing and supporting multi-cloud infrastructure, including VPC and network structure, IAM based policies/roles, auditing and logging, EC2, S3, Elastic IP, ELB and security groups is highly preferred.
- 5 years experience with installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining multi-VRF Enterprise Cisco environments, and interoperability with other vendor platforms.
- 3 years data center facility experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle critical situations in a 24x7 environment.
- Ability to make decisions and provide solutions by inquiring, listening and evaluating information.
- Perform mentoring and sharing knowledge with other team members.
- Excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written (documentation / diagrams).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a dynamic business environment.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelors degree in computer science preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNP, CCIE, AWS, PaloAlto.
- Familiarity with VMWare, Windows, and Linux.
- Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR is a plus.
