Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE

The Engineering Manager leads the engineering and maintenance function across Crystal Cold Storage's multi-site cold warehousing operations, ensuring asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and optimal energy performance. This role combines strategic planning, capital project delivery, and people leadership to maximize uptime, control lifecycle costs, and enable safe, scalable growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Strategy & Roadmap: Define and execute a 3- to 5-year engineering roadmap aligned to business expansion, CAPEX plans, and energy/sustainability targets.

Project Management: Lead the planning, design, and execution of capital projects—including new warehouse construction, facility upgrades, and equipment installations—ensuring timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards.

Asset Reliability & Maintenance: Own asset management strategy and CMMS governance; ensure PM/CBM programs meet targets for Planned Maintenance Percentage (PMP) and reduce reactive work.

Critical Systems Oversight: Ensure highest reliability for refrigeration systems (compressors, condensers, evaporators), utilities, power distribution, and backup power.

Energy Efficiency: Develop and implement energy management initiatives and sustainability projects to reduce power consumption and optimize refrigeration performance.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure engineering compliance with environmental, refrigerant handling, and workplace safety regulations; lead PSM / emergency response readiness for refrigerants.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Admin, and Finance teams to align engineering priorities with operation requirements, cost targets, and company strategies.

Vendor & Contractor Management: Select and manage specialist contractors, OEMs, and service providers; enforce SLAs and technical acceptance criteria.

Budget & Cost Control: Prepare and manage annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for engineering; identify lifecycle cost optimizations and CAPEX prioritization.

Team Leadership & Capability Building: Lead, mentor and develop multi-site engineering, reliability, and maintenance teams; implement competency matrices and certification plans.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management: Optimize critical spare parts stocking (Spares availability target, inventory turnover), reduce procurement lead time risk.

Drive energy efficiency & sustainability initiatives: Use smart controls and analytics to reduce energy consumption, support demand response and enable sustainability reporting.

Standardization & Documentation: Establish and maintain engineering standards, operating procedures, and maintenance records across all sites.

Emergency Response & Business Continuity: Lead technical incident response, cold chain recovery plans and post-incident analysis.

KPI Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Deliver monthly engineering dashboards (uptime, MTTR, MTBF, PM compliance, energy KPIs) and lead Root Cause/Corrective Action programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (required). Master's in Engineering Management, MBA or equivalent (is an advantage). Licensed Professional Engineer

Experience: Minimum 10 years engineering experience; 5+ years in a managerial/senior engineering role.

Demonstrated experience with large-scale refrigeration, cold storage, food logistics, or industrial facilities.

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of industrial refrigeration (ammonia/CO₂/HFC systems), HVAC, electrical distribution, and backup power.

Familiarity with ISO, GMP, and HACCP standards.

Behavioural / Soft Skills: Strategic and analytical thinker with excellent decision-making ability.

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership presence.

High sense of ownership, integrity, and resilience under pressure.

Certifications (preferred): Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (required).

Safety and environmental training (e.g., BOSH, PSM) is an advantage.

Pay: Php40, Php60,000.00 per month
