Position Overview

Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local and national tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements applicable to the company's operations as an express delivery service provider. This role manages the accurate preparation, filing, and payment of taxes, while also advising management on tax strategies to ensure efficiency and cost savings without compromising compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare and file all required tax returns (VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, percentage tax, documentary stamp tax, etc.) in compliance with BIR deadlines.
  • Ensure timely payment of all tax liabilities to avoid penalties and surcharges.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of tax-related records for audit and reference.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and ensure accuracy in recording transactions.

Audit & Regulatory Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), external auditors, and other government agencies during audits and examinations.
  • Prepare necessary schedules, supporting documents, and explanations for tax audits or inquiries.
  • Implement corrective actions and improvements to ensure compliance.

Advisory & Planning

  • Provide tax guidance on transactions, including contracts, procurement, logistics costs, and cross-border services (if applicable).
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, DOF/BIR issuances, and advise management of their impact on the business.
  • Recommend strategies for tax efficiency and risk mitigation.

Internal Controls & Support

  • Work closely with the accounting and finance teams to ensure proper tax treatment of financial transactions.
  • Review payroll tax computations, employee benefits, and statutory deductions in coordination with HR/Payroll.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports with accurate tax provisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • At least 3–5 years of solid tax accounting experience, preferably in logistics, courier, e-commerce, or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, regulations, and BIR reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and other financial tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and integrity in handling confidential information.
