An Import Documentation Staff is responsible for handling the administrative and compliance-related tasks involved in importing goods into a the country.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing and Reviewing Documents:

  • Import permits
  • Commercial invoices
  • Bills of lading
  • Packing lists
  • Certificates of origin
  • Customs declarations

Coordinating with Stakeholders:

  • Freight forwarders
  • Customs brokers
  • Shipping lines
  • Suppliers and internal departments (e.g., logistics or purchasing)

Ensuring Compliance:

  • Making sure all documents meet local customs and international trade regulations
  • Monitoring duties, tariffs, and taxes
  • Avoiding penalties or delays due to incorrect documentation

Tracking Shipments:

  • Monitoring the status of imports
  • Ensuring on-time delivery
  • Updating internal systems with shipment status

Resolving Issues:

  • Handling document discrepancies
  • Addressing customs holds or clearance problems

Skills Required:

  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable of customs regulations
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Familiarity with trade terms (e.g., Incoterms)
  • Experience with logistics or import is a plus
  • Computation of duties and taxes
  • Lodgement of entries
  • Open for fresh graduate
