We self-perform key trades (demo, framing, concrete, drywall, finish carpentry) and operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

We're growing rapidly — with multiple $150K–$1.5M projects running at once — and need a detail-obsessed, systems-driven Remote Construction Accountant to help us tighten cash flow, track job costs, and scale operations.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This role is for a precision-focused construction accountant who will take full ownership of job costing, payables, receivables, payroll tracking, and financial reporting. You'll be our back-office engine, helping us track real-time performance, improve margins, and manage contractor financials at scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Construction Accounting

• Manage and reconcile job cost reports across all active projects

• Allocate labor, materials, equipment, and subs to correct job codes

• Track committed costs vs actuals and flag overruns

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Process subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and payment apps

• Send and track client invoices and monitor collections

• Verify vendor statements and maintain accurate AP/AR aging reports

Payroll, Insurance & Compliance

• Support payroll tracking with our timecard systems (Contractor Foreman, QuickBooks Time)

• Reconcile fringe rates, tax deductions, and general liability allocations

• Track subcontractor COIs, bonds, licenses, and other compliance documents

Reporting & Bookkeeping

• Reconcile QuickBooks Online monthly (bank, credit card, loan accounts)

• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow reports

• Help generate job profitability reports and monthly cost tracking dashboards

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years experience in construction accounting

• Proficient with QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable)

• Knowledge of job costing, progress billing, and WIP schedules

• Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills (formulas, pivots, tracking logs)

• Familiar with:

• U.S. contractor tax concepts (GET, TPT, 1099s, etc.)

• Reading subcontractor agreements and invoices

• Handling fringe, retention, and bond tracking

BONUS IF YOU:

• Have experience with Hawaii-based GC accounting

• Know how to calculate markup formulas (OH, Profit, Bond, Escalation, etc.)

• Are familiar with Contractor Foreman, ProEst, or Autodesk Build

• Can work inside ClickUp or Notion task tracking systems

• Have managed cost coding using CSI Divisions
